In the course of my travels around the internet, I often come across helpful links and resources that I feel others might find useful too.
In these posts, I want to share them with you.

“COVID-19” by Hannah Prow 23/03/2020
This is a poem written by a friend of mine at church, Hannah Prow, about the current COVID-19 crisis that encourages Christians to have hope. Hannah writes of the contrast between our earthly city with the eternal city we as Christians will inherit.
“Gentleness as a Christian virtue” by Peter Orr 03/02/2020
Since our world is under considerable stress and strain at the moment, our patience with others can be tested, and we can fail to be gentle with them. This is a helpful talk for us, reminding us to check again how and why we are relating to others, and what God says specifically about gentleness and how good and important it is.
“The worthwhileness of written prayers” by Jane Tooher 2016
During this time of physical separation from others, it is important and good to keep with—or begin—godly habits. Written prayers—whether those in the Bible, those written by Christians throughout church history or the prayers we write ourselves—can be helpful for us to use to develop, refresh and appreciate our prayer times. They can help our concentration when we pray. Furthermore, we can learn from others prayers about God and about ourselves.
“Ministry to women and children in the congregation” by Helen Jensen 31/03/2012 (PDF)
This is the full notes from a seminar Helen Jensen gave in 2012. The seminar was very brief, so the notes aren’t long, but they are a great encouragement and challenge to women to keep teaching the Bible to other women and children.
“Singleness in ministry” by Vaughan Roberts 03/02/2014
Vaughan has been in vocational ministry for several decades as a single man. In this brief video, he shares some of the great and hard things about being single in ministry, whether someone is male or female.
“What is church when we can’t gather?” by Lionel Windsor and Chase Kuhn 20/03/2020
Now that we can’t meet as a larger gathering for church, many of us are wondering what church actually is. This is a really helpful conversation between two of my colleagues, Lionel Windsor and Chase Kuhn, about what church actually is when we can’t gather and what church is, in fact, when we can gather physically.
“Isolation and Christian love” by Lionel Windsor and Dan Wu 18/03/2020
How might we as Christians display love to others during this time of necessary physical separation? This is a great conversation between two of my colleagues, Lionel Windsor and Dan Wu, where they discuss this very important topic.
“What are they going to do?” by John Woodhouse, 09/03/2020
Former Moore College principal John Woodhouse preached at our recent 2020 graduation. From 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5, John demonstrated four things a gospel minister needs to do. This is great talk for anyone to listen to—whether you are in vocational ministry or not. It will help you see the priorities and privilege of ministry, and better understand what ministry is.
“Upbeat songs for quarantined kids (Free playlist)” by Betsy Childs Howard 22/03/2020
Acknowledging that days can be long with quarantined children in the home, Betsy Childs Howard complied this fun playlist. She writes,
This playlist is not meant for bedtime, nor were the songs chosen to teach kids theology (although some of them do just that). These upbeat songs are meant to help kids get their energy out, to help parents laugh instead of cry, and to help us make a joyful noise to the Lord.
“Death and the Christian” by Jane Tooher 01/08/2018 (PDF)
This is an article I wrote in 2018 for Southern Cross. I chose the topic of death after spending some time reading what other Christians had written and said about death, and how helpful and comforting I found their words. Those Christians helped me focus on what really matters each day, and the sure and certain hope a Christian has beyond the grave.
